Biography: (Updated 2009-09-03)

Corey Allen Jackson is a versatile composer whose work to date spans the gamut from animation to the thriller/horror genre. He has composed music for numerous projects for film and television. Although Jackson entered the musical world playing guitar in his native Oklahoma, he was formally trained as a classical composer, earning bachelor and master degrees from the University of Oklahoma, where he was awarded top honors. He then went to Paris for additional training at the renowned La Schola Cantorum where he studied the Boulanger Method, as did American heavyweight composers, Aaron Copland, Philip Glass, and Roy Harris. He earned his certificates there with distinction.

After writing exclusively concert music for a number of years, Jackson left that world in 2002 to attend the University of Southern California's prestigious Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program, earning a one-year post-graduate degree. His teachers there included Oscar-winning David Raksin and Christopher Young. By his second semester in that program, he was working in the field. Again, Jackson was awarded the top award upon graduation. His first TV project was NBC's Emmy- nominated Starting Over.

Jackson's training as a classical composer is evident in his work, his mastery of the orchestra lending itself to dramatic sensibility in which a score can be utterly terrifying in one moment and lighter than air in another. His skill is unmistakable in his scores for Left in Darkness starring Monica Keena and Tim Thomerson and It Waits with Cerina Vincent. Jackson is perhaps best-known for his frequent collaborations with Oscar-nominated animator Bill Plympton. Their projects together include Tribeca selections Shut-Eye Hotel and Idiots and Angels, as well as Hair High, Guide Dog and The Fan and the Flower. He has contributed to Spider-Man 2, Meet the Spartans, The Deal and Sandlot 2. Video game work includes James Bond: From Russia with Love, The Punisher and The Simpsons. He was an orchestrator for the Grammy-Award winning Ozomatli album, Street Signs. Television films that he has scored include The Lifetime Channel's Storm Cell and Sci-Fi Channel's Devil on the Mountain (aka Sasquatch Mountain).
